THE FUTURE HAS STRAPS!
LAUNCH YEAR:
2025
NEW PART DEVELOPMENT:
1. Forged aluminum AsymWrap Chassis + FASE integration.
2. FASE highbacks (Rome Katana & Bataleon Blaster).
3. Rome and Bataleon ankle strap lateral and medial garages (for long strap management).
4. Long lateral ankle ladder strap.
5. FASE slider footbed.
6. Subbase pad EVA and heel landing pad .
7. FASE paddle.
8. FASE HUB.
9. Toe ladders and adjust straps with FASE bumper/angle stoppers.
10. FASE paddle lock (for packaging).
TASK:
Using the “FASE” paddle mechanism created by the Nidecker group, integrate the technology into the Rome Katana and Bataleon Blaster bindings.
GOALS:
Maintain the exact same feel, quality and look of the Katana and Blaster while adding fast entry system. There should be no distinction between the non-FASE 2 strap bindings and the new FASE AW bindings.
RESULTS:
The FASE system integration into the Rome Katana and Bataleon Blaster bindings was a success. The feedback from shops, reps and riders has been overwhelmingly positive. The resulting sales have been double the quantity sold of bindings year over year and are forecasted to double again for the 2627 season.
ROLE:
Senior Industrial Designer and developer, lead 3D surfacer for all parts, 3D printing and prototyping, on-snow tester, manufacturing QC, all size grading for S, M/L and L/XL parts.

PART DEVELOPMENT

Initial “split heelhoop” concept development.

Established inner HUB concept that nests into the AsymWrap heelhoop.

Initial BOM and part planning for assembly.

Due to the tolerance challenge of fitting an injected HUB to a formed aluminum heelhoop, many 3D prints were used to validate the fit.

The complex movement of the FASE system required significant trial and error with the pedal and forward lean parts.

The first prototype built for on-snow testing.

EVA subbase pad and slider footbed development 3D prints.

Multiple mounting configurations were explored using prototypes from our factory and 3D prints.

The “FastStrap” is a crucial component to the system. Shape, teeth and end stopper geo was perfected using 3D printing and on-snow testing.

Part and assembly review during factory visit.
